Washington Elementary Named to 2025 Best Elementary Schools List
WHITEWATER, WI — Washington Elementary School has been named one of the 2025 Best Elementary Schools in Wisconsin by U.S. News & World Report.
The school ranked no. 186 on the list, which includes more than 1,000 schools statewide.
The publication analyzed and ranked schools based on students’ proficiency in mathematics, reading, and language arts using state assessment data. The methodology also accounts for local socioeconomic demographics to highlight schools that are effectively serving all students.
“This is a recognition to be celebrated for our staff, students, and families of Washington Elementary,” said Superintendent Samuel Karns. “It reflects the strength of our instruction and the steps we’ve taken to make our schools more inclusive and equitable for all students. We’re proud of this achievement and will continue working to support our students as they move forward in their education.”
Washington Elementary earned an overall score of 81.28 out of 100. The school ranked no. 177 in reading proficiency and no. 478 in math proficiency out of 989 Wisconsin elementary schools.
Additionally, about 47 percent of Washington students scored at or above the proficient level in math, and 52 percent in reading. Statewide, 41 percent of students reached proficiency in math and 37 percent in reading.
