Whitewater Community Celebrates Children’s Day Event

WHITEWATER, WI — Whitewater Unites Lives, the Kiwanis Club of Whitewater, and the Whitewater Unified School District teamed up once again this year to bring the community together in celebration of Children’s Day.

The event took place on Saturday, April 12, and welcomed families and students for a day of engaging, family-friendly activities that highlighted the importance of connection, culture, and community partnerships.

Highlights from the event included a visit from author Ruth Molina Mota, who read and signed copies of her book for students. Attendees also enjoyed traditional Nicaraguan dance performances by Whitewater High School students, a preview of their upcoming presentation at the Wisconsin Association of Bilingual Education conference.

Teacher Mrs. Goff shared two engaging stories with younger children, while local musician Marco Wence provided live music throughout the day.

“Children’s Day is a wonderful example of what happens when a community comes together to celebrate learning, culture, and connection,” said Superintendent Dr. Caroline Pate-Hefty. “We are grateful to our partners and proud of our students and staff for creating such a vibrant and inclusive experience for our families.”

Additionally, the Whitewater Police and Fire Departments gave students the chance to explore a police car and fire truck, while the WHS Ferradermis robotics team offered demonstrations of a student-built robot.

Organizers wish to thank all community members and partners who participated in and supported the event.
