Welcome to the Student Services Department!

The Student Services Department at Whitewater High School (WHS) offers programs & services designed to help students attain the knowledge, attitudes and skills that promote student achievement and personal growth in the areas of academic, career and social/emotional development.

School Counselors facilitate academic & career planning activities which help students discover the connection between their achievement in school and post-secondary options. They conduct individual planning conferences for every student during the registration process each year to promote career exploration and academic success. Through individual and small group counseling services, they facilitate healthy relationships, inspire emotional intelligence, and help students work through challenges & solve problems peacefully. They also coordinate the Academic & Career Planning Program, testing, and the local & area scholarship program.

The District Social Worker works with students and their families to provide a bridge between home and school. She assists families in finding a number of community resources, including: healthcare, counseling, clothing, and other resources. She ensures that teachers and staff understand mandatory child abuse & neglect reporting procedures. She is one of two homeless liaisons in the district. She coordinates the Peer Mentor Program which pairs high school mentors with younger students in order to promote healthy social and academic skills.

The School Psychologist helps students succeed academically, socially and emotional by conducting testing and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings for students with special learning needs. He collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students, strengthening connections between home and school. By collaborating with pupil services colleagues, our school psychologist helps improve educational outcomes for all students.

Our Registrar / Administrative Assistant manages student information in the Infinite Campus administrative program. She processes grades, report cards & transcript requests, scholarship payments, registration, and assists in coordinating special schedules during student testing. She is a Notary, homeroom advisor, academic awards coordinator, and helps every department with special projects throughout the year. She also organizes the course selection guide and scholarship handbook each year and participates on many building teams including the high school leadership team.

PSAT/NMSQT

Each fall, high school juniors have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test for students who wish to participate in the nationwide scholarship competitions conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In addition to being the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition, the PSAT also serves as good preparation for future college admissions tests that college-bound juniors and seniors will have to take.

ACT

Students in grade 11 will take the ACT® Plus Writing examination. The ACT® Plus Writing is a paper & pencil examination consisting of four multiple-choice tests: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and a 30-minute essay test that measures writing skills.

Wisconsin Forward

The Wisconsin Forward exam is used to determine how sophomores are mastering the state standards in Social Studies. This is an online exam given in April/May that will require your child to use a chrome book. Test tickets with individual student log-in information will be distributed before testing. Please remind your son or daughter to bring their chrome book to school fully charged on the day of testing.

Aspire

The ACT Aspire is part of a statewide comprehensive assessment program designed to provide information about what students know in core academic areas: English, Reading, Writing, Math & Science. This is an online exam that will require your child to use a chrome book. Students in grades 9 and 10 will take the exam in the spring (April/May).
