National FBLA Conference
Senior Attends National FBLA Conference

Serving as Wisconsin's Region V Vice President, Kayla attended the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, July 12-18. Robin Crow, musician/guitarist and founder of Dark Horse Recording Studio, welcomed nearly 10,000 FBLA members and advisors during the opening session. Having participated in workshops and the Institute for Leaders, Kayla will be well prepared as she serves as an FBLA State Officer. While in Nashville, Kayla enjoyed lunch and a show aboard the General Jackson Showboat and visited the Country Music Hall of Fame. Finally, American Idol tryouts were being held in Nashville. Masses of music hopefuls waited in line hoping to make it to Hollywood!

AP Scores
Students Receive AP Scores

All of their hard work paid off in the end. Students across the country recently received their scores from their Advanced Placement (AP) exams. AP classes are college level classes taught in the high school. Students complete a rigorous curriculum and then have to prove mastery by taking a very difficult test in May. Students who score a 3 or better, out of 5, on the AP exam will usually be granted college credit, thereby getting a jump on college coursework and saving money. Whitewater's Advanced Placement Calculus class had particularly excellent scores on the AP test this year. Whitewater had 50% of their calculus students score a 5 while a total of 71% earned a 3 or higher. Globally, only 21% scored a 5 while 55% earned a 3 or higher. The Whitewater High School students should be congratulated on this accomplishment.

Summer School Musical
Summer School Presents Musical

The Summer School Playhouse presented "OLIVER" on July 8, 9, and 10 at 7:00 pm in the WHS auditorium. Based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver is about an orphan boy who runs away from a workhouse and meets a pickpocket on the streets of London. Oliver is taken in by the pickpocket, and he joins a household of youngsters who are trained to steal for their master. Dickens' characters are brought to life-perhaps larger than life-with all their facets glowing in this production. Leading actors are Jeremy Hoesly as Oliver, Travis Winger as The Artful Dodger, Quinn Masterson as Fagin, Kathryn Letellier as Nancy, Jimmy Letellier as Bill Sykes, Bryce Wilson as Mr. Bumbles and Callie Boydston as Widow Corney. Backstage crew is led by Kayla Carey and Amanda Kyle. The musical is directed by Jim McCulloch and Lori Heidenreich.
