Banner Designed to Honor Community Member Whitewater High School Art students created a banner for this year's community art project. The banner design honored one of Whitewater's prominent citizens, Jim Stewart, for his work in creating and publishing the WhitewaterBanner. Numerous students spent many hours completing this project. The banner was hung downtown on May 15 and was stolen that night. If anyone has any information concerning this theft, please contact Mrs. Brigham-Schmuhl or the Whitewater Arts Alliance.

Girls' Soccer Team Defeats Jefferson
On Tuesday, May 15, Whippet Girls' Soccer defeated the Jefferson Eagles 3-0 in Rock Valley Conference play. Whitewater struck early on with two goals by freshman Ally Quass. Quass's first goal was unassisted, and Jasmin Fernandez assisted on the second. The Eagles awoke after giving up two goals in the first fifteen minutes and pressured the Whitewater defense until the close of the first half. The play between the two teams was fairly even until another freshman, Yvanna Strait, scored off an assist by Melani Martinez late in the second half which sealed Jefferson's fate. "I can't say enough about how well the girls played tonight," commented Coach Dauti. "We were down five starters but everyone rose to the occasion. Were we perfect? No, but our passing and off-ball movement has greatly improved since the start of the season." Earlier in the JV contest, shortened by lighting, the Whippets defeated Jefferson 2-0 on goals by Tisa LeFaive and Carson Vance. The Whippets return to play on Thursday at Clinton.
