The Whitewater Unified School District Program Philosophy

As part of our commitment to high quality teaching, the Whitewater Unified School District provides an induction program to support newly hired teachers.  All newly hired teachers are assigned a mentor to work with throughout the year.  Monthly meetings are held to ensure our newest colleagues are supported and successful. 
 
 
Goals of the Mentoring Program:
 
  • Enhance beginning teacher performance
  • Retain beginning teachers in the profession
  • Improve professional collegiality
  • Acclimate the new teacher to the district culture and to the specific school culture found in their building
  • Instill a clear understanding of district expectations around instruction, curriculum and student learning
